i am wearing the loft cares friendship bracelet designed by jessica quirk of “what i wore“. i’m so happy to share that i am participating in the LOFT CARES “linked for life” project to support the breast cancer research foundation. i am one of a group of bloggers that have shared our stories of how breast cancer has affected our lives. my aunt is a breast cancer survivor and i will never forget when i heard the news. i thought it would be best to have her tell her story in her own words:

While performing a self-breast exam, one day, I happened to feel a bump on the side of my left breast.  I wasn’t too alarmed as I had had problems with cysts in the past.  However, over a few months time, this lump started to increase in size, showed a slight redness on the surface of the skin, and itched.  Unfortunately, a biopsy confirmed my worst fear, I had breast cancer.  The next year consisted of a lumpectomy, followed by a mastectomy, six rounds of chemotherapy, and finally, reconstructive surgery.

I’ll never forget my last visit to my oncologist’s office, where she overheard me saying to my sister, “I sure wish they would hurry up and find a cure for this terrible disease.”  My doctor turned to me and said, “You are cured!”  Whether that is truly the case, only time will tell.  Regardless, that is exactly what I needed to hear at the time, as I began my journey as a cancer survivor.

thankfully, my aunt has been cancer free since 2003. you can purchase the bracelet i am wearing by clicking here. for each bracelet that is sold, LOFT will donate $5 to the breast cancer research foundation.

p.s. i will also be featured on LOFT.com and the LOFT’s facebook fan page on oct 12th so stay tuned! and for my mani addicted friends…i am wearing “peep show” by essie for jcrew (yes the one from the infamous jcrew ad).

THE CAUSE that unites us all – sisters.mothers.friends.coworkers.

*disclosure: i received this bracelet, a t-shirt and a gift card from LOFT for participating in this campaign. i will be giving away the gift card soon so stay tuned for it also!

As a breast cancer survivor, it is nice to see so many people getting involved to spread the word to help find a cure for this devastating sickness. The bracelets are beautiful – very hard to pick only one – I may have to buy them all!

How cool that you get to be part of the campaign esp. when it hits so close to home? That’s a beautiful bracelet and an even more important cause ♥
