Did you know that World Nutella Day was a thing? I didn’t either. Apparently February 5th is the day to celebrate all things Nutella! This was music to my ears since I have been on a Nutella treat making kick.

Truth be told, I have never been a huge Nutella fan. But my son LOVES it. So when he asked me to make him Nutella toast recently, I bought a large jar. And then I somehow ended up making one treat after another. Here are three of my favorites:

First up are these Nutella Flower Pots. I started out thinking I would make the jelly envelopes that have gone viral. But they somehow morphed into these. Knowing my son loves Nutella, I swapped the jelly for Nutella instead.

All you need is ready-made pie crust, Nutella and some powdered sugar. Leave the pie crust out for approximately 15 minutes to bring it to room temperature. Then cut out your heart shapes and fold the bottom up and the two sides in. I brushed them with a little butter thinking that would help the small hearts stick better. It didn’t, so I used a teeny bit of Nutella (after they came out of the oven). Bake at 400 degrees for approx 12 min or until golden brown. Decorate as you wish!

Next up are these dark chocolate Nutella truffles. I came across this super cute conversation heart mold at Michael’s and had to have it. I didn’t know what I would be using it for when I bought it, but it sure came in handy. These are SUPER easy to make and take just minutes.

The first step is to melt the Ghirardelli dark chocolates. Then fill the hearts up half way and use a brush (or a butter knife) to make sure the sides are covered. Put in the refrigerator for approximately two minutes. Then add a dollop of Nutella and cover with more chocolate. Put them back in the fridge for a couple more minutes. And then TAH DAH…the best truffle you will ever taste!

nutella heart waffles

Last, but not least, are these delicious heart shaped Nutella waffles. Is it terrible that I have a bit of a Dash waffle maker addiction? I currently own the original, heart shaped (for Valentine’s Day), snowflake (for Christmas) and the skull (for Halloween)! I literally have to talk myself out of getting a new one each time they come out with a different one. Speaking of…I just saw they have a bunny (for Easter) and the cutest honeycomb waffle maker too! Help!

nutella waffles

The trick here is to make your waffle batter first. Then add a dollop of Nutella AFTER you have poured the batter onto the waffle maker. Use a toothpick to swirl the Nutella in. They are so sweet that you don’t even need syrup! This might be the only way I make my waffles in the future. They are that good!

revolve off shoulder sweater

Is anyone else ready for the time change? I am counting down the minutes. It seems like we have had more rain than we usually get here in Southern California. I am SO ready for sunshine and longer days.

Lovers and Friends Booker Sweater

I am totally guilty of wishing my life away. Wishing it was morning so I can have my morning coffee (my fave time of day). Wishing the days were longer so we had more sunshine. And wishing January would finally end since it seems like THE LONGEST year (yes, I meant to say YEAR…lol) of my life! And yet somehow, my life is flashing before my eyes!

The days are long, but the years are short.

I started this blog when my son was just six months old and now he is twelve. So I take back what I said…how can we slow time down? I need to stop wishing for tomorrow and enjoy today.

Puffy Jacket

I used to think that puffy jackets were only for the snow. But now there are so many lightweight options that I think of them more as a wardrobe staple. I have a black Patagonia jacket and a North Face puffy jacket that I wear all the time. But this one is more of a fashion statement piece.

As most of you probably know, I am not really huge on cropped anything. So I was thrilled that this puffy jacket hits below my waist but above my hips. Do you know what we call that? The perfect length, that’s what! I am also loving the color of this coat. It’s an off white cream color and goes with everything. But the best news is that it is now on sale! And to be honest, I don’t know why! It is a new arrival, gets great reviews and is super cute.

So if you are still looking for a cute winter coat, I highly recommend this one. Shop it here, or you can shop all of my favorites below:

Fall Jacket Trends

It’s fall, y’all! Which means it’s time to pull out your fall jackets. Here in Southern California, it rarely gets cold enough to need a heavy coat. So we can get away with these fun trendy jackets. Teddy bear, shearling lined, and faux fur coats are all the rage this season. And it looks like we are sticking with more of a cropped fit. I usually prefer a coat that hits closer to the hip, but these cropped versions are starting to grow on me. Or maybe I’m just getting used to it.

I still have my bomber jacket from high school (complete with my nickname monogram) but I recently picked up this one. It’s reversible and can be worn with athleisure wear or dressed up for date night since it isn’t as bulky. This is another great one if you like a little more length.

I’ve got a couple of faux fur coats in my closet but I am OBSESSED with this fawn colored coat. The color is SO gorgeous! This coat is an awesome statement piece, if you’re looking to dress up a LBD for the holiday season.

Which jacket style do you like best? I’d love to hear in the comments!

Elf on The Shelf
Elf in an apron & a custom “paint your own cookie”.

Elf on The Shelf is one of our favorite holiday traditions. We weren’t very creative when coming up with a name for him, so he just goes by “Elf”. But what he lacks in a name, I like to think he makes up in his “creativity” when hiding! Wink, wink (insert pat on the back here). So I thought I would share some our favorite Elf on The Shelf Ideas. Just in case you…I mean Elf, are running out of ideas.

My first suggestion is to check out Elf on The Shelf ideas on Pinterest. You can find my Elf ideas board here. In fact, most of my ideas are inspired by others. But the Target bullseye playground and dollar spot bins are amazing for finding props and little gifts for your Elf to bring. I made a horrible mistake one year and thought it would be cute if Elf brought a treat each day as well. As if remembering to move elf each night wasn’t enough, I now have to find a little treat for him to bring. Speaking of, The World’s Smallest Toys are perfect for props and/or gifts. But it doesn’t have to be anything big…sometimes Elf just brings a cup of cocoa or a piece of candy. My son is now twelve and still looks forward to waking up and finding him each morning, so it is all worth it.

Lastly, I used to buy new official Elf on the Shelf brand costumes each year (which got very expensive, very quick). Then I moved on to purchasing costumes for Elf on Etsy. There are some really cute niche ones for gamers, sports fans, etc. on Etsy. I even got an xbox controller outfit for our elf one year since my son loves video games. But now that Elf on the shelf has been around so long, you can even find costumes in the Target dollar bins! I scored and bought five new ones for this year (I’ll be sharing those later)!
