One of the most common questions I get on the blog is “How do you get your beachy waves”? I did somewhat of a picture tutorial here and I still use the same technique, although my hair is now MUCH shorter (gasp)! But I thought I would also share an updated list of my favorite styling products & tools too. I’ve been using some of these products since high school ( 20+ years) and others are products that I reviewed and still love & use.

Cleanse

Kerastase Bain Chroma Riche Shampoo, Kerastase Chroma Captive Masque Conditioner, Kerastase Masque Force Architecte Conditioner

I’ve been using Kerastase products for YEARS and since I get my hair done so often (seriously, I’m at the salon every 3 weeks), it is important that I use products specifically for my color treated hair. I love how shiny this shampoo makes my hair and I alternate between the two conditioners. Both leave my hair SUPER soft and don’t weigh it down.

leave-ins

Infusium 23 Leave-in Treatment, Bed Head Ego Boost, Nexxus Pro-Mend Heat Protectant

I’ve used Infusium 23 leave-in and Bed Head Ego Boost leave-in since high school. My hair just does not feel the same without them. The Nexxus pro-mend heat protectant was something I randomly bought using Birchbox points and I ended up loving it. It leaves my hair shiny too!

styling tools

Chi Ultra Blowdryer, Jose Eber Clipless Curling Iron, Keratin Complex Stealth Straightener

I think I’ve had this Chi blowdryer for at least ten years. Knock on wood that it doesn’t go out on me anytime soon! I’ve also used the Keratin Complex Stealth Straightener for probably just as long. I had the first version which finally died on me recently so I re-purchased the Stealth 3. I still think the old one worked a little better but this one is still better than other brands I’ve tried. And then the curling iron that changed the way I curl my hair forever is the Jose Eber Clipless Curling Iron. I LOVE it and am tempted to buy another one as back-up…just in case! To get my beachy waves/curls, I just separate my hair into two sections and curl the underneath first and then the top layer. I also like to alternate the direction of the curls so they don’t all lump together.

styling products

Toni & Guy Volume Plumping WhipToni & Guy Sea Salt Spray, L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hair Spray, Redken Shine Flash Spray

I reviewed a few Toni & Guy hair products (seen here) and I absolutely LOVE the volume plumping whip. It REALLY does give you major volume. Sometimes I use it just on my roots for lift and sometimes on my whole hair for extra volume. I also love to spritz my hair with the Toni & Guy Sea Salt Spray for texture. Then I add shine with a quick spray of Redken Shine Spray and finish with a quick spray of hair spray. And tah dah…beachy waves.

    Hi there!
I use Kerastase leave in oil, but could also use a product for dry ends, do you recommend the masque for that? I am in need of a trim soon anyhow 🙂
