Peter Pilotto Belted Floral Dress

Something happens to me the night before a Target collaboration. I honestly had no intention of shopping this collection. I mean, I really did think the floral belted dress on the left was cute but wasn’t planning on staying up all night to purchase it. And then I made the mistake of getting on twitter. My peeps were luring me into the madness. I NEED THAT DRESS. No…no…I really don’t. Ok, I’m going to bed. And then my internal clock WOKE ME UP AT MIDNIGHT. I’m serious…I did not set an alarm. So of course I grabbed my phone to check to see if the collection was available yet. YES! And then like a maniac I grabbed my laptop, logged into my Target account, had my cart full using three different browsers and even downloaded the Target app on my phone trying to get THAT DRESS. I got an error message every time I tried to check out. Meanwhile everyone else was tweeting about all of their purchases. WHY DOES THE TARGET WEBSITE NEVER WORK FOR ME during the collaborations?!? So then I set my alarm for 7am and drove to a local store. I was 2nd in line (we were the only two) but the lady in front of me had a list a mile long for her daughter who also was blowing up her phone THE WHOLE TIME. As they opened the door, the lady and I darted for the new arrivals section. And NOTHING. They didn’t get a single piece at this store. What a rookie move!  So then I had the manager calling another store while I called a 3rd store. When I finally got to the 2nd store, I literally had the place to myself. They had EVERY SINGLE PIECE….EXCEPT MY DRESS!!! Arrrrgghhhhh!!!! Since I was already there, I decided to grab one of everything and try them on. I didn’t LOVE any of it but this dress (far left/below) was surprisingly flattering on…and even though it has a slight hi-low hem to it….I was very tempted. As I walked up to the register to pay, I put it back on the rack and decided to get a Starbucks coffee instead. And then I checked my Instagram feed….crap….more YAYS than NAYS. So say hello to my new not-the-dress-i-wanted below (left).

Then when I got home, I couldn’t help myself…I logged into eBay to see if the dress I originally wanted was available. And proceeded to bid up to $95.  I was outbid and I was relieved. And now I am bidding on another one.  Kinda hoping I get outbid again…I think.

Haha, girl you crack me up! I liked that dress (the one you didn’t get) too, but not enough to wake up at midnight for it. But I might go check out my local store today to see what is left.

Do you like the way the hi-lo hem fits?? I’m never sure about dresses with those hemlines, so I was hesitant to buy it! Looks super flattering everywhere else though…

There’s not a very big difference in the hi/lo hemline so I still bought it. But it is pretty short (like a mini) so if you are taller than me (5’6-5’7), it may be a bit short on you? But it is totally flattering on! I may be returning mine though since I won an ebay auction for the one I originally wanted! =)

    Oh.
    Em.
    Gee!

    This line is SO cute!

You know, the one problem I have with following all of you gorgeous ladies/bloggers is seeing and falling in love with all of the fashions I know my wife won’t try.

I was going to go at lunch time and decided to head to Marshalls. Tomorrow I will hit Target. Can’t wait to see it in person.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Ok your story sounded EXACTLY like mine (the debating in my head)- error messages and all- until a gracious tweeter (when I was looking to see how other people were able to purchase and I wasn’t) tweeted that if you changed the view from the thumbnails to “detail” view you were able to add what you wanted to your cart. I wasn’t understanding what she meant but I could see other people thanking her bc it was working for them… once I experimented with the views it was like aha!!! you could send stuff to your card from the quick view, so I shopped what I needed at well into midnight (like all of us shopping addicts) but now I feel horrible that that dress you wanted sold out and that it’s being sold for more on ebay 🙁

I wish I would have seen this earlier! My Target had a lot of the pieces from the collection. However I wasn’t impressed with ANY of them. I was so bummed too because I was really looking forward to this collab. All the pieces were just so ill fitting. So disappointed but will be interested to hear how you like your dress if you ever get it.

Lol, I wonder if it’s the actual garments that people like in these Target collabs, or if it’s just the exclusivity of owning one of the highly sought-after pieces. I’m guessing the latter since people are willing to pay way more than retail just to have one…

Don’t hate me, but designer collab or not, polyester just ain’t my bag. We still have a pretty decent selection of ths collab at my local target stores and I just can’t bring myself to buy. Cuz I know it will sit in the closet unworn. I guess I have textile issues. Probably need to see a therapist. Lol:)
