American Hustle

As soon as I saw the previews for American Hustle, I knew it would be on my MUST SEE list! I was born in the 70’s but OH HOW I WISH I was could have experienced 70’s fashion! And don’t even get me started on the disco dancing. It would have been SO on. I am seriously obsessed with ALL of Sydney Prosser’s  (played by Amy Adams) looks! She had over 40 costumes in this film including the iconic DVF wrap dress (seen below), gorgeous plunging neckline Halston gowns and full leather jumpsuits. Oh, and one very sexy crochet bikini!

I was so inspired by the fashion in this film that I decided to create my own 70’s look (inspired by Sydney…obvi) using items in my closet. Just like Sydney, I bought my first DVF dress when I moved to NYC. It was kind of a “rite of passage” for me even though it was TOTALLY not in my budget at the time. But it was worth EVERY penny.

While I wasn’t crazy about the film, the performances rocked and the clothes on the ladies were amazing. I loved the disco look that Amy and Jennifer wore and I totally think you captured this vibe!

You just nailed it and I love that dress. I am so excited that wrapped dresses are coming back. They are my favorite and I have never stop wearing them. Thanks DVF for creating such an amazing piece.

I couldn’t stop staring at that blue wrap dress when it was onscreen, and your version might be even sexier! Are you going to do another one of these posts for Jennifer Lawrence’s costumes? They were also so glamourous!

That is a great dress! Wrap dresses are so flattering. I might have to invest in a DVF one myself. 🙂
