HAPPY BIRTHDAY GLOSSYBOX! Glossybox is celebrating their “first year of beauty” with a special box curated with some of their fave products with a little nod to their hometown of NYC! Here’s what I got this month:

Amorepacific Color Control Cushion Compact: This Color Control Cushion Compact is a multitasking wonder. It contains powerful broad-spectrum SPF protection to combat free radicals, deep hydration for replenished skin, and complete coverage for smooth skin all in one lightweight, portable compact. My thoughts: I REALLY wanted to love this because it just seemed so dang fun to apply. All of the product is in a little sponge inside the container so you dab just the amount you need and swipe. I really liked how it looked but sadly, the color I received was too dark for me. And also, it was just too perfumed for my sensitive skin. boo.

Nicka K New York Absolute! Perfume Stick: Absolute! Solid Perfumes embody the spirit and passion of New York, the city that never sleeps. Escape the everyday with evocative scents, both refined and seductive, and each with a different secret to discover. Parceled in beautiful, boutique-inspired packaging, these addictive perfumes are perfectly sized to slip into your purse and transform your world. My thoughts: Another super fun way to apply a product. I’ve always been intrigued by solid perfume sticks. This scent was a little musky for me…smelled a bit like an incense. Now if it was a gardenia scent, we would be golden.

être belle Collagen & Aloe Vera Hydro Mask: This restructuring and moisturizing Collagen & Aloe Vera mask provides skin with an extreme moisture boost that improves elasticity and promotes hydration. My thoughts: One of my faves from this box. I’ve been really into masks lately and this one is no exception. Feels like a spa treatment at home!

My Multi-Purpose Mattifying Moisturizer: My Prime’s lightweight moisturizer packs a double punch with intense hydration and superior anti-aging benefits while delivering a flawless, matte finish. It also doubles as a primer that keeps your makeup on all day long. My thoughts: I’ve tried many primers but none that were a moisturizer/primer combo. So far I really like this one.

Sebastian Professional Volupt Spray: The Volupt Spray is a volume-building spray gel with the cushion particle technology that best combines full volume and sensual softness. Shake well to activate its two-phase for- mula and spray on damp hair. Blowdry for extra body or air-dry to enhance waves and curls. My thoughts: Gel just reminds me of back in the day when I would put it in my permed curled hair and have crispy ends that you could scrunch later in the day and have a nice white powdery residue….lol. I haven’t tried this yet….and I’m sure it does not do what my old cheap gel used to do. But I just don’t really use gel to style my hair these days. Do any of you?

European Wax Center Slow It Body Wash: Prevents ingrown hair, leaves skin clear, deters bumps and blemishes while hydrating the skin. My thoughts: Haven’t tried this one yet either. Thankfully, I don’t really get ingrown hairs so not a problem for me.

European Wax Center The Exfoliate: This refines and polishes your skin without any harsh abrasives. Tip: use it before manicures & pedicures. My thoughts: Now this, I like! I only wish I got a bigger sample. A gentle exfoliant…perfect if you have sensitive skin like me.

I would definitely use everything in the box. I don’t normally use hair gel but I would give it a try. Maybe go retro one day with those permed scrunchy locks lol. Happy birthday Glossybox:)

Your thoughts on the gel took me back to my perm scrunched hair days too. However, I use a little gel on my 3 year old sons hair. It’s not the flakey white residue stuff of yesterdays hair gel, so much better and gives his do some texture.
