Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner

Birchbox Review

The May Birchbox information card had a little mad libs (remember those?!?) fill in the blank story so we could share where we open our Birchbox. I couldn’t help but fill it out:

I always open my Birchbox in my car. The first thing I do is smile. The sample I am most excited about is the Beauty Protector “Protect & Detangle” spray. I love the color of the Sumita color contrast eyeliner. I have to share the Coola sunblock with my friend Sam.

Here’s what I got:

Pilot Corporation of America Acroball PureWhite Gel Pen: Each pen is filled with a form of hybrid ink that combines the richness of gel ink with the water-resistance of quick-dry ballpoint ink, preventing any smudging or smearing. Acroball PureWhite features a glossy white barrel with Spring Pantone inspired grip colors. Grip colors include Dusk Blue, Lime, Nectarine, Cabaret, Turquoise, and African Violet with coordinating colored ink or black ink. For a timeless look, a silver grip with black ink is also available. My thoughts: A pen? Really? Although now that I no longer work in an office, pens are scarce in my house. LOL. It is fun to write in pink ink though!

Sumita Color Contrast Eyeliner (in Raina): The soft wax pencil won’t tug the delicate skin around your eyes, while a dose of hydrating glycerin guards against irritation. There are seven dramatic shades to choose from, including playful Signature Lime Green and a classic rich Black. My thoughts: WOW! This blue is SO pretty. I’ve been seeing colored mascara’s making a comeback so maybe…just maybe…I will try blue eyeliner.

Beauty Protector Protect & Detangle Spray: This paraben- and sulfate-free detangler seals the cuticles (the microscopic scales that compose the outermost layer of each strand of hair). It also smooths and moisturizes, thereby minimizing frizz, while safeguarding color and adding shine. Lastly, it provides protection against UV rays and heat. Happily, it accomplishes all this through a weightless, non-greasy formula that leaves behind an airy floral scent. My thoughts: SUPER excited for this. The longer my hair gets, the more tangled it gets. And as much as I blowdry/curl my hair, I need all the heat protectant I can get.

Folle de Joie eau de parfum: The perfume opens with a burst of freshness from an intimate blend of calming citrus and a light woodsy floral, giving away to playful hints of cognac. Its middle notes—jasmine and Damascenia rose—give the fragrance a carefree, summery vibe. Finally, warm base notes of spicy woods and rich leather add a seductive finish. Plus, the vintage-inspired glass bottle adds a chic touch to any vanity. My thoughts: I feel like I’ve received this before? Maybe not. I kind of like it though. I think.

COOLA Classic SPF 30 Cucumber Moisturizer for Face: The skin-balancing formula features vitamin C-rich strawberry extracts to soothe and tone lackluster skin. Age-reversing antioxidants like evening primrose, acai, and linseed oils deflect free radicals, while naturally water-resistant plankton extracts make the formula extra-durable. My thoughts: This smells DELICIOUS! Cucumber scented sunblock? Yes, please. I am throwing this in my purse now!

P.S. Of course after mentioning Mad Libs, I had to go read all about its origin. And it reminded me of the time I was in elementary school and spelled burglar wrong. And to this day I STILL spell it wrong every time. Even just now. You would think after that humiliation I would forever remember the spelling. Nope. Thank goodness for spell check.

What is your opinion on Birch Box in general? Do you think it’s worth the cost? I’ve been trying to decide whether or not to try it.

I bought Coola products for my daughter since she has sensitive skin and is quite fair. Guess what? I dig them! I have been using a Coola sunscreen on my face this spring and not a lick of sun has kissed my face. Usually by now my nose is toasty brown (I spend a lot of time outside as a fitness trainer). Bonus: no breakouts. You will love it!
