Denim Pencil Skirts

citizens of humanity denim skirt

A few weeks ago I was flipping through a magazine and came across a pic of a denim mini-skirt listed as a must-have item for summer. It’s been YEARS since I’ve worn a denim MINI skirt. I purchased the denim pencil skirt in the first pic last year but the mini above is at least ten years old. I spent a ridiculous amount on it for a “Dukes of Hazard” party we went to and it has sat in my closet unworn ever since. Not sure why I went with a skirt instead of shorts?! Wow…that was a lifetime ago. But now I’m curious…what are your thoughts on denim mini skirts? Love ’em or leave ’em? I thought they were kind of out of style but then again being a CA girl…they seem *almost* like a classic.

And now seeing these below, I’m starting to think I may need to get a new one…shorter than my pencil skirt but longer than my mini. =) LOL.

I’d definitely give them a go! Chic, comfortable and versatile.
My choice would be a knee length.

I’ve been thrifting them from Gap and JCrew…along with overalls…denim skirts from mini to ankle-length are my latest obsession. So versatile! Love your knee-length with tank and heels! My blog isn’t up and running, but I am on instagram @coverallstoocktails =0)

I agree that #2 is more flattering and I think they can be totally cool as long as you style them in a modern way. You can definitely pull it off!!

I think you’ve styled both pieces perfectly and they both suit you well. An almost knee length skirt, maybe in white or a print would be a great addition!

As a SoCal Girl…yes! A denim skirt is a classic! Every spring I go on the hunt for a new twist on it. If I want a super classic one, I go to Guess, American Eagle Outfitters, Old Navy… If I want something with a twist, JBrand, Citizens for Humanity, or Current Elliott.

I prefer the mini or the pencil skirt :). The long one seems cumbersome to move in.

Um, no. Nice blast from the past. And yes, they are classic. But seriously? Why? With so many great skirt options right now from pleated to floral to high-low I couldn’t think of anything more boring. You could have left the dust bunnies on those girls.

I live in skirts and denim is at the top of my list of favorites..just as versatile as a jean jacket, dress up or down.

Definitely feel that #2 is more flattering and can be dressed in a more modern way than #1.
