Piperlime Striped Skirt

Pim & Larkin Striped Skirt Piperlime

Pim & Larkin Striped Skirt

George Gina & Lucy Bag

Tailor & Stylist Bow Patent Heels

I’ve been wanting a striped “skater skirt” (full skirt?) like this for a very long time. But every one I tried on just flared out too much. After buying this one and then exchanging it for a smaller size (runs big), I’m still not sure it is the most flattering cut for me. But it sure is comfy. I decided to stick with the black & white theme by wearing my pasadena pumps and adding in pops of color with my belt and bag. You guys know how I love my matchy-matchy.

And a little update on the photography saga: I still can not get my pics to look the way I want so I am going to go back into the camera store I bought my lens from and hopefully be able to get a little help. I’m sure no one else noticed it but in yesterday’s post (and the day before), there is now a really weird shadow on on all of my pics. I have always used a flash so the shadows must have something to do with this new lens. I’ve played with the flash settings and still get the same results. Also, I have tried on numerous occasions to take pics in the shade without a flash as many have suggested and I just get harsh shadows and have to do too much post editing?!? What am I doing wrong here??? I would just rather be able to shoot straight out of the camera (with a flash) and only have to edit blemishes/wrinkles and not have to worry about lighting. Sorry about the vent sesh. Hoping to be back tomorrow with some answers. =)

I love the skirt on you – and think it’s totally flattering & adorable! 🙂

Did you try using the settings I sent to you from our pictures? I will say that with the 50mm lens, you have to adjust the settings more often because you aren’t using the flash. So, since you take your own pictures, it may not be worth it to you because it will take you longer. 🙁

didnt’ realize you took your own pics or used flash… i do neither. 🙁 find the flash distorts colors. I just switched to a 50 mm lenses and have been really happy. did you simply try putting it on AP setting? I know that’s the auto sell out way but it’s all we have time for, and if you check out monday’s photos I already see an improvement!

pS: skirt is totally flattering and adorable on you!

You look so cute in this dress, and I’m a matchy, matchy person and I LOVE the cute black and white pumps with the dress. Spring of photography, I am always in awe of your photography. Lighting is such a HUGE issue for me living in Chicago, especially in the dead of winter when we have such low natural light. Thank goodness spring has sprung and we’re seeing the sun. That said, I try not to shoot in full sun, but I I would love some of the tricks you use to get such great lighting. I would also love to know what photo editing software you use. I’ve looked in to Photoshop, but get overwhelmed by it. Right now I’m just using iPhoto on my Mac, but it’s so limiting with what I can do. Thanks! Love your blog!!

I think the pictures you’ve been taking with your new lens look great! I can definitely tell the difference… Maybe you’re just not used to the new look of the photos? Do whatever works for you tho… If you don’t like the 50mm, switch back!
