benefit fakeup concealer review

as you guys know, i am ALWAYS on the hunt for the worlds greatest concealer! so when birchbox offered to send me benefit’s new concealer “fakeup“…of course, i said YES!

here’s what i love: packaging, texture, blends well, no creasing, moisturizing.

here’s what i don’t: very light coverage. i wear a bb cream and powder so i can pretty much only apply this “before” i do my powder because of the moisturizing outer ring.

verdict: great for those with very minimal dark circles. perfect for a beach/light makeup day. i will use this under my makeup but will have to touch up a bit with a heavier concealer for my broken capillaries, etc.

also….please note that there is absolutely no editing on the pic of my eyes (sorry for the extreme close up). this is with the fakeup concealer under my usual makeup routine. oh, and it’s only a matter of time before i need that eyelid surgery…soon i won’t be able to see if my lids hang any lower.  it’s hell getting old, i tell ya.

p.s. i wrote this post a few days ago. and i’m glad i did because after yesterdays horrific news about the boston marathon bombings, i found myself just staring at my computer having difficulty concentrating. maybe it is because i just ran a 5k and i can’t stop thinking about how my mom, husband and son were all there at the finish line to watch me. i am just heartbroken for everyone who was affected by this horrible tragedy. ugh.

Well at least I can scratch that one off my list to buy – I definitely need something more heavy duty too! Let me know if you get the Tarte concealer…I keep hearing such great things about it.

Finding the right products can be the luck of the draw.

Girl your eyes look fabulous in that picture! I use MUFE Hi-Def concealer, and their camoflage cream concealer depending on the coverage I want and swear by them. I’ve wanted to try this Fake Up by Benefit if anything for that moisturizing ring, it’s genius!

I’ve been testing this concealer for about a week and have found the coverage to be pretty sheer as well. I think I’m just going to reserve it for winter or when I’m using my Retin-A, which is really drying. My absolute favorite undereye concealer is Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer. Great coverage but great for that thin skin. I really miss my 20 year old skin.

I love Benefit products just as much as I love reviews! Thanks for keeping some extra money in my pocket, I don’t think this is the right product for me.

Wow, I do love most products from Benefit, but thanks for these details as I probably would have purchased this and been disappointed. I DO need heavier coverage. Although the idea of using this for beach/pool days is tempting. I do like too arrive with a “what, who me? wearing make-up? no!” kind of look.
