march birchbox review

i am a LONG time subscriber of birchbox (you can see all of my reviews here). and i can honestly say that this was the first time i was a bit underwhelmed by my box. i feel bad saying that but this box was just well, not that exciting. i mean, i really did need a new nail file so that was fun. lol. i think maybe i was just hoping for more “color” for spring? anywho….here is what i got:

caldrea body lotion: caldrea focuses on plant-based botanical ingredients that you can feel good about applying to your body. rice bran, a staple in Japanese skincare, stimulates collagen to increase elasticity and hydration. nourishing chia seed oil optimizes skin health. plus, caldrea products are vegan and free of phthalates, parabens, formaldehyde, and artificial colors. my thoughts: i am not a lotion fan but i will throw these in the toiletry bag or maybe in the car for when i do use lotion-on the go.

make dual phase-eye makeup remover: this pretty pink liquid delivers a one-two punch. In the first phase, oil lifts off makeup (including waterproof mascara). in the second, cucumber- and chamomile-infused water conditions and soothes skin. my thoughts: ok, maybe i’m a little weird here but i like to use good old fashion soap and water to remove my makeup and then i follow up with my usual facewash. to be honest, i probably won’t use this so i will be putting it in my give away pile. =)

make silk cream lipstick (sandstone): available in five gorgeous shades, this matte lipstick is chock full of hydrating, healing ingredients for healthy, kissable lips. nourishing vitamins A, C, and E provide antioxidant protection, while moisturizing aloe and chamomile extract soothe and calm skin. a blend of rosehip, soybean, and safflower oils hydrate and condition while giving the lipstick an easy-to-apply glide. candelila and beeswax ensure color lasts for hours. my thoughts: i initially thought i wouldn’t care for this color but after putting it on…i am even considering purchasing the full-size product. this is some seriously moisturizing lipstick. and i loved the color on!

serge normant meta revive dry shampoo: perfect for all hair colors and textures, the lightweight formula combines strengthening Moroccan cedar extract with amplifying cornstarch for a fresh, volumized finish with no heavy powder residue. my thoughts: i have recently purchased a few “dry shampoos” so i haven’t given this one a try yet but i do like the trial size we got. it will be perfect for my travel bag.

EXTRA: madewell for birchbox emery board (the other side has a cute floral print).

if you are not familiar with birchbox, it is a monthly subscription service that delivers a curated box of beauty product samples for only $10/mo. occasionally they even include full-sized products. it is one of my little treats for myself that i look forward to each month. to learn more or join, click here.

It’s great to hear a blogger being honest about a product/service. All the time it’s gushing reviews… but sometimes you’re not impressed – I’m glad you’re speaking up about it. I don’t know if they have these in the UK – but I would SO get into these – I’m obsessed with new beauty products 😀

I got the caldrea body lotion samples and I loved them. I also received th Marcelle BB cream to try and I liked that also but I also would have like it better had it has a spf in it. Whish saving cream which I loved. Made my legs feel really smooth. I also got the emery board which I needed.

I’ve been disappointed with Birchbox in the past, so I unsubscribed. It looks like they’ve had such great boxes lately though, so I need to subscribe again!

I’m sad to hear you didn’t really love this box – it’s interesting because this is one of the first times I’ve really been jealous of your box! (wow, hope no one reads that out of context! haha)

I just signed up for Birchbox and this was my first month to receive it. I felt the same way…not excited. 🙁
