deborah lippmann gel lab

every so often when my birchbox points add up, i like to shop the birchbox shop for items that i wouldn’t normally buy for myself. so i splurged and bought this deborah lippmann gel lab kit. i have only had one gel mani and it was actually my very first post on this blog! at the time, i RARELY painted my nails. shocking, i know, since i now paint my nails like every other day. but i have to say…these polishes did not create the same gel mani effect i was looking for. i was hoping for a thicker gel-like appearance and a long lasting manicure. my manicure did not last any longer than my usual manis (chipping/peeling after only 3 days). basically i feel like it was a $45 base and top coat. and to top it off, one of the bottles arrived broken. but i just couldn’t be bothered to package it back up and return it for a replacement. especially when i couldn’t wait to give it a try! on a positive note, the top coat is super shiny and fast drying. they will definitely get used, but a gel mani it is not….in my opinion.

Thanks so much for posting this! I’d been debating the splurge on this for weeks but have been waiting for more reviews on the product before spending the money.

So disappointing though, I definitely would have paid up if it worked as promised. Sorry your splurge didn’t work out.

Thanks for the review. There have been so many at home gel manis out there to buy,it’s good to know what works and what won’t. Saves me the trouble! LOL thanks!

I worked for Nordstrom as a Nail Trchnician and the Lippmann rep gave me these to try. Definitely not a gel polish. The fact that they didn’t have to be cured was a reg flag to me. The top coat is shiny, though!

I just found your blog and I love it. I am a huge fan of Lippmann polishes. This is good to know. Not sure I will try the gel set from her now. Thanks for the review.

Great review! Thanks! I’ve been debating if these were worth the money. I think I’ll save my money for a real gel kit with uv light & all.
