did you know that january is “human trafficking awareness month”? i didn’t either. i was SHOCKED to read that human trafficking is considered to be one of the fastest growing criminal industries in the world, second only to drug dealing. the united nations estimates that 27 million people are trafficked annually. i also didn’t know how prevalent human trafficking was right here in the US.  most human trafficking in the united states occurs in new york, california, texas, florida and georgia.*

when radiant cosmetics asked me to help spread awareness about their “kiss slavery goodbye” campaign, i did not hesitate. beauty for a cause….yes, please. the worldwide cosmetics and perfume industry currently generates $170 billion annually. women dominate the cosmetics industry. currently, of the over 2 million human beings trafficked annually, 80% are women and girls. radiant cosmetics believes in educating women and empowering them to do something about this injustice. on top of their usual 20% of profits donated to their partner, for each lipstick purchased during the month of january, radiant cosmetics will donate one on your behalf to a survivor or current trafficking victim as part of their efforts to end modern day slavery.

you too, can help spread the word by taking a pic of yourself in your favorite radiant lipstick, hashtag it with #kissslaverygoodbye and share on your social media outlets. you can also follow radiant cosmetics on twitter, facebook and instagram.

disclosure: radiant cosmetics gifted me their long-lasting matte finish lipstick in “moscow” and “park avenue” from their moisturizing lipstick line. i am wearing “moscow” in these pics. sweater is c/o LAmade.

Isn’t it horrible? It literally makes me feel sick to my stomach. I volunteer at the Sexual Violence Center in Minneapolis so I am very aware of human trafficking. What’s worse is what happens just 10-15 min away from where I live, we always want to believe it isn’t happening around us but it’s happening in most of our backyards.

Thank you for posting this, I am am glad you are helping spread awareness!!!!!!!! I will have to look into these cosmetics, anything to help this cause!

on a superficial note, this sweater looks amazing on you, and the lipstick really pops against a neutral outfit. too cute
