yay! it’s time for FBFF again. this week is all about “outfit planning” or my lack thereof.

1. how do you go about picking your outfit for the day? (do you lay stuff out the night before? do you plan a whole week’s worth of looks sunday night? do you wing it every morning)? i am THE WORST at outfit planning. i literally think about outfits the night before and inevitably when i put it on the next day, it never looks the way i imagined it would. so i end up with a heap of clothes in my bathroom, closet and wardrobe room (not finished yet). oh and then i will see an outfit in a magazine and i’ll be like…i totally have all of those…i’ll recreate it tomorrow…and it never happens.

2. do you try stuff on and then take pics to see how it looks, like cher in clueless? sometimes i do. or if i am taking pics for the blog and something looks off, i will change and retake pics. it’s weird how something looks good in the mirror and then you go out and take pics and not so much.

3. and are you consistent in your planning or lack thereof, or is your planning limited to special events? i ALWAYS wait to the last minute for EVERYTHING. but i spend all of my time THINKING about what i need to do. this is the story of my life. i STILL wonder WHY i don’t pack my friggin diaper bag the night before i know i have somewhere to go. i guess i work better under pressure!

4. do you have a way of keeping track of which outfits you wore when? no. only by looking at my blog. or from memory (or what’s left of it).

5. how do you come up with new clothing combinations? (an app? computer program? trial and error)? ok, do people really use a computer program to pick their outfits??? i have heard of the apps where you can catalog your clothes but i have never tried it. i tend to look in my closet (or the bottom of my laundry basket) and find things i forgot i had. i get most of my inspiration from magazines and other bloggers.

be sure and stop by modly chic to read how everyone else answered the same five questions.

totally know what you mean about working better under pressure. However have started to plan for special occasions as I left my outfit for a wedding right till the last minute a couple of years ago and it was the worst decision – the dress didn’t fit right and I felt awkward the entire day!

Haha – we are so opposite in this way! I have to have everything planned out before, down to the jewelry & accessories or I am a stress case! But, I totally agree with you about taking outfit pictures and then not loving the outfit. My husband gets really aggravated when this happens because he hates having to re-shoot! 🙂

I never plan my outfits but they are different almost every time. I do, however, take photos when I blow my own mind with my creativity! hahahaha

    speaking of creativity…

I always plan my outfits out at night because my brain does not work well at 7 am. But like you said, sometimes the way I planned it in my head is not the same as it looks on me! Hate when that happens. Have a great weekend, Jenn!

I am actually VERY good about picking an outfit out the night before. This is actually where almost all of my blog photos come from. I think about my day ahead, start with one key piece and then build around it. Believe it or not, it rarely takes very long. My wardrobe is so loaded with ‘basics’ that many things can be mixed & matched. Besides, I lean towards black & white… a lot… so it really isn’t that tough. Hee Hee

Loved reading this! I am a planner but I don’t lay them out. I always think about them and hope they turn out as I planned. Sometimes they do sometimes they don’t. Have a great weekend!

I always end up with the clothes heap all over the floor too! 🙂 I’ve also done the take pictures, look at them, and then change and retake pictures thing!

HAHA…well I didn’t even know about FBFF so this post I really should have participated! I plan my outfits a month in advance, and guess what Jen…get ready to shoot me because…May outfit photos are done! Anyways, I am super excited about your trip to FABB, can’t wait for you to meet Kim in person. I also love the white and navy outfit along with the tribal maxi dress and blazer. Sorry to stop by so late this week, it’s been very hectic!

As much as I love to plan I can never seem to find the time…. I wish for a larger Carrie style closet to help me see all my clothes so I can pick from them, sigh! In reality I need to do a bit of a ‘closet check’ every few months to remind myself of new and different combinations.

haha glad someone else is disorganized :p Outfits just kind of “come to me” and sometimes they work and other times they don’t
