makeup used for this look: 1. chanel vitalumiere aqua liquid foundation 2. chanel poudre douce soft pressed powder 3. loreal mascara 4. revlon really red lipstick 5. exude red #1 lipstick 6. mac shadow in nylon 7. chanel foundation brush 8. bare escentuals kabuki brush

i finally made the switch to liquid foundation!!! i’ve gone back and forth between lancome and mac pressed powder since high school. but now that i am *almost* 37, i just need more coverage. i’d read rave reviews for the chanel vitalumiere aqua foundation so i dragged my mom with me to the chanel counter for a little makeover. as soon as the makeup gal started applying it, my moms first words were…”oh, you are going to love this”. and she was right. it feels totally light, but the coverage is good. i also bought the pressed translucent powder to set it. AND a $50 foundation brush. WHAT???? yes, you read right. she told me it was “like” $35 and then when i got to the register, it rang up as “like” $50 (ok, $45, but still). i guess if your going to go big…go big, right?

p.s. my husband is mortified that i blew a kiss to the camera (last pic). yet, he said nothing about the pic with my hair beard (first pic). he often asks me if i am embarrassed when i pose. for the record, i’m not (obvi). but if you ever see me crouching or posed on a car…then, yes…i’d be embarrassed. those are the only two that would embarrass me. let’s hope you never have to see that. LOL.

p.s.s. i should also probably clarify that i applied my makeup for these pics…not the makeup artist.

Isn’t it oddly exciting to settle on a great foundation? I’ve been a fan of Chanel for awhile. Great post. So funny and clever! Very Refreshing.

I love these pics of you – that first one totally made me laugh! That is the best red lipstick on you and you should stock up on it! I have been wanting to try this foundation forever, but am waiting until my Arbonne bottle runs out…looks amazing!

Haha this post made me laugh. I loved it! Who cares? As long as you’re having fun 🙂

I love Chanel’s foundation. I had been using Bare Minerals for years and around Christmas I had a gift card to Macy’s and used it on some makeup. My favorite purchase was the foundation. I’m hooked! I use the “Double Perfection Matte Powder Makeup”. It’s lasted me forever! It’s true when they say “You get what you pay for”

I realized how much I loved red lips this winter when my face needed a pick me up and haven’t looked back since (don’t know why I sported a nude lip forever – i.e. MY ENTIRE LIFE). Did you layer the Exude on top of the Mac for this look, or is it just one or the other? Thanks for the tip on the foundation – I bought an el cheapo at the drugstore yesterday because I was out, but will have to look into the Chanel the next time I need some. And also? You have lashes for DAYS.

    merci!

Okay you may have sold me. I have been using bare minerals for years. I am afraid to use anything else. If I even try liquid my face breaks out. And I love that lipstick. I need to purchase a red lipstick.

Your are sooooo gorgeous in that red lipstick! And I am so jealous of your gorgeous lashes. I have the saddest set of lashes ever. Thank you Asian genes.

That foundation is definitely on my wish list – especially if you love it! You look glowing and dewy! Did you wear it with concealer too?

oOoOo…i forgot to share that i used the tiniest bit of that garnier roll-on concealer that we both have. just in the corner of my eyes because the chanel foundation really helps for coverage. i have bought like 20 concealers and i always go back to it because it is so light and not at all cakey. AND i did MUCH less editing around my eye area so you could really see the coverage. =) it is totally dewey…i love it! thank you ying!

Gorgeous look! So 50’s glam, which I love. I’ve been using Revlon photo finish and I love it, gives you that ready for the camera look! 🙂

I made that switch this year as well. Powder wasn’t doing it for me and then I found a liquid one form NARS. The BEST I ever had seriously. P.S. Loving that lipstick on you! I have yet to find the right shade of red! x

I think you did an amazing job with your make-up! WOW!!! I used to use the Lancome Teint Idol foundation until I discovered the Smashbox 15 hour long lasting studio foundation. But seriously…Chanel and Armani are the next brands I want to try! Beautiful photos Jen!

Oooh la la, that red is gorgeous on you! I’ve been a long time user of Bare Minerals, but almost reaching 36 myself 😉 I need to move onto something with more coverage too. I may have to head over to my nearest Chanel counter soon. Thanks for the suggestion.
