this was the first time i wore this dress. i remember thinking i was being REALLY daring to wear yellow shoes and such a chunky necklace.

this is the second time i wore this dress. i thought it was really dorky to tie up my shirt, but i struggle with layering and really wanted to wear this dress as a skirt. obviously getting more comfortable with chunky necklaces and even added a bracelet.

and finally…the third times a charm. i’ve improved my layering skills and adding bold accessories now feels totally normal.

it’s been a while since i’ve linked up for FBFF. this week the topic is about the “one-time use” phenomenon with fashion bloggers. the above pictures are an example of how starting this blog has taught me how to layer more and take more risks with my clothes. i learned how to remix from this gal and am forever grateful. so i guess i’m a better remixer than i thought. i think?

“the one-time use phenomenon. i’ve been reading a number of posts lately about only wearing something once and how many bloggers are accused of this. seems a good topic for us”. ~ katy, modlychic

1. are you a one-time wearer? not really. when i love something, i will wear it over and over which is why you don’t see a ton of ootd posts on here. i mean, how sick would you guys be of seeing me in my garage sale jeans…lol!

2. do you feel the need to purchase something new for an evening out or a special event? absolutely. when i was younger (and single) i ALWAYS had to have something new to wear out. you just FEEL great in a brand new outfit. since starting this blog, i have way more clothes than i need (literally am turning my office into a wardrobe room) yet whenever i have somewhere special to go, i still feel like i have NOTHING to wear.

3. re-mixing is something a lot of bloggers are proud of being able to accomplish – are you a re-mixing pro or do you shy away from posting items frequently? why? i would say i am a re-mixer. i used to seriously put one outfit together and that would be the only way i would wear it. since starting this blog, i have learned to remix through all of the fabulous blogger inspiration.

4. do you have a clothing budget or are you an impulse buyer? i am a TOTAL impulse buyer. lately, i’ve been trying to just put things in the cart and then think about it. and then i get paranoid that my size will sell out. and then i buy it thinking…i can always return it. and then i don’t. and then i wear it a few moths later and am usually glad i bought it. is that crazy? =)

5. do you find yourself bored when reading a blog in which clothing items are often remixed and appear frequently? no, i don’t. i wish i was one of those bloggers who have the gift of layering and making outfits seem completely different.

be sure and stop by modlychic to see how everyone else answered these questions.

TOTALLY unrelated: so i’ve seen a lot of people in the blogosphere rant about people who don’t REALLY wear the outfits they post on their blogs. and then go on to say that they are any better because they DO. just want to be clear here (again) that i OWN every single piece of clothing i wear on this blog (obvi). and though i do NOT wear these outfits to playdates or to the grocery store, i do wear them. but most of the time, i tone it down. and sometimes i just like to play dress up in my fun clothes that i don’t get to wear out as much as i used to. and now all of my non-blogging friends think i am a complete weirdo. =)

SO glad you added that last paragraph, Jen! Alot of my looks lately have been more dressed up and it’s because I don’t get to work in an “office environment” where I have to do that and it’s fun to use my blog as a way to wear nicer clothes more. But, that being said…it is a mission of mine to try to do more casual posts too so my readers are given weekend outfit inspiration (like today’s)!

I love this post! I’m guilty of putting an outfit together and getting really excited about it and ONLY wearing it that way from then on till I’m completely burnt out on every single piece of it and don’t want to wear any of it again. I’m also an impulse buyer (especially when I’m afraid my size will sell out). I’ve also downloaded the new “Poshmark” app (which is awesome if you haven’t checked into it!) where people buy & sell clothes and you can find awesome deals. I’m a sucker for a deal. I just got some adorable Michael Kors booties the other day for $35!! And a Foley + Corinna purse for $60. I’m addicted.

As one of your non-blogger friends, I have to disagree with your statement about us thinking you are a weirdo. I now look to you for inspiration and advice about my own waredrobe and style choices. I enjoy reading your blog and your “blogger BFF’s” as well. I won’t be blogging anytime soon, but I do enjoy the read, so thank you ladies!

I liked seeing the evolution of your dress to start this post. It was fitting.

There are times I don’t go anywhere fun so I don’t get to wear my fun outfits. I think playing dress-up is just fine. I wish I had more time for it.

Love the little addendum you put. I tend to wear exactly the outfit posted as is but there is the occasional thing that I might tone down a notch or two in order not to get weird looks while running errands. By the way I LOVE that first pic of you in the striped skirt. I’m thinking it’s time for another Frequent Flyer guest series with you as one of the featured guests. – Katy

    FUN SKIRT!
I don’t listen to any of the ranting – if I like your, or the outfits you put together, I visit your blog. Simple.
It’s obvious that some people don’t wear what they feature, and others do. Whatever, right?
I wear my black skinnies wayyyyy too much – and I noticed it last week on the blog. Need to be better at remixing.

Actually really love the first look! So many great options here, and I agree… I’m not one to tie up my shirt but it looks so cute when I see others do it (you included). Loved your answers… I can’t imagine how some bloggers can afford to buy all the clothes they wear… must have pretty cushy jobs. Love your style.
