i am ALWAYS on the hunt for the fountain of youth, so when birchbox asked me if i wanted to try out their special edition “vichy” birchbox…of course, i said yes! i had never heard of vichy laboratoires products before but as soon as i said yes, i kept seeing it being advertised all over the place. you know…like that way when you decide to buy a car and then it is the only car you see on the road. so here’s what i got:

aqualia thermal cream fortifying & soothing 24hr hydrating carewhat they say: fortifying and soothing 24hr hydration in a rich, refreshing cream. with mineral-rich vichy thermal water and activ hyaluronine™ to help strengthen the natural protective function of the skin and soothe sensations of discomfort. what i say: i am in LOVE with this moisturizer. seriously. i have total combo skin (super dry in spots and oily in others) and this kept my skin hydrated and i did not get my usual oily forehead by mid-morning. now you see…this is what i was afraid of. i knew eventually i was going to fall in love with a more expensive face cream. but it may be worth it.

liftactiv with rhamnose 5% nightwhat they say: ingredient innovation: rhamnose. a naturally derived plant extract clinically proven to reignite skin rejuvenation at the source. wrinkles are reduced. skin is firmed. youthfulness is restored. what i say: this is the product i was most excited about. i’ve been using it for about 2 weeks now and i have to say i think it is pretty comparable to the night cream i was using previously. no miracles here (yet)….but i like it.

pureté thermale 3-in-1 one step cleanserwhat they say: purete thermale 3 in 1 one step cleanser is a cleansing milk, toning lotion and eye make-up remover combined into one convenient formula that is lightweight and non-greasy. formulated for sensitive skin. what i say: i did not try the face wash. i’ve used proactive for years and i’m just afraid to change for some reason. i still break out ALL THE TIME so i’m not sure why i don’t just try something new.

pureté thermale soothing eye makeup remover for sensitive eyeswhat they say: a highly effective, yet gentle eye make up remover with cornflower water + pro-vitamin b. removes make-up and helps reduce the appearance of fatigue around the eyes. what i say: i have never been a fan of eye makeup removers because the only ones i had ever tried left my eyes oily which always grossed me out. but this stuff is not oily at all and left my eyes feeling refreshed.

celludestock intensive treatment for the appearance of cellulitewhat they say: celludestock with caffeine and lipocidine™ reduces the appearance of cellulite in 4 weeks, smooths and tones up the skin. proven efficacy on hips, thighs and buttocks. what i say: obviously the trial size i received wouldn’t last me the 4 weeks necessary to see results but apparently this stuff gets great reviews which makes me tempted to try it! it has a nice scent compared to the ajax smelling cellulite cream i used to buy from avon….lol.

If you still break out, try Cetaphil. It’s amazing…I continued to break out all through my 20’s & started washing my face with it 2 years ago (I’m 32 now). My skin is totally different now, definitely for the better. And I used proactive for years…I think it’s too drying. It works well for awhile, but then your skin starts to over-compensate for the dryness & breaks out more.

I might have to try that face cream. I fell in love with a moisturizer but its $88 for an ounce 🙁 It only lasted me 1.5 months so I need to find something a bit more reasonable.

I got this same box from them and it’s just been sitting in my bathroom cupboard because I’m too afraid to try it (for fear I’ll break out)! But, you may have convinced me to give it a shot! 🙂

I got the birchbox vichy box as well. I strictly use dermalogica but decided to give it a try. So far I’m loving it. But I’m really sad because I left the facewash in the shower at the gym after my swim yesterday afternoon and when I went back this morning they had already thrown it out. I was looking around online to decide whether or not to just order the facewash and I found your blog. I did notice that if you use the code BIRCHBOX on the vichy website when you make an order over $35 you get free shipping and some deluxe samples of other products. Just thought if you were still loving the moisturizers you might like to know about this promotion.
