i have wanted “happy birthday” glitter polish by deborah lippmann forEVER. so since i got the deborah lippmann get this party started trio for christmas, i had to do a comparison with my wet n’ wild “party of five glitters”. the photo above is three coats of each. the deborah lippmann polish clearly has more glitter than the wet n’ wild. “happy birthday” also has gold glitter in it and “party of five” does not. “party of five” is $1.99 and “happy birthday” will cost you $18.00. so which one would you choose?

the “get this party started” gift set comes with a sheer black base with glitter called “forget you”, a pink sheer base with glitter called “candy shop” and then of course the original which is “happy birthday”. the set retails for $42.

and my finished “happy birthday” manicure! i will probably use this polish as more of a top coat to decorate mani’s but since i have been obsessed with owning it, i figured i would go all in. =)

    well, as I’m – except essie – not a fan of expensive nailpolishes – I wear them, once, twice or some i really love more often, and then i forget about them, find new ones, and then they aren’t that “creamy” as before, it prefer the cheap one. i invest normally only in the base and the top coat, because in my opinion that’s what makes it last. so I’d buy the 2 dollar one, and either you make a little “money-i-saved-by-buying-less-expensive-thins-box” or you buy a book together with it – or offer to yourself a professional manicure (I don’t know what they cost in the US, but here they are available for 15 euro).
    Did you already make your decision?

    Oh great – now I want this! This would be so fun with a pale pink or creamy white base & the colorful glitter on top! I may have to go buy the cheap Wet & Wild version! 🙂

    Love this! I have to try the Wet ‘n Wild polish! I’ve loved “Happy Birthday” forever but haven’t splurged on it. Thanks for sharing!

    i just splurged on Lippmann’s polish after Christmas. not impressed as it chipped after 24 hours! will be returning it to nordstrom’s. but i love sephora/opi glitters. never knew wet/wild had glitters as well- will be grabbing some at next target run!!

    OOoo these two are almost the same, and for $1.99 I’d get the wet and wild. I can apply an extra coat or two…. HEHE…this is where my cheapo attitude comes out!

    Looks beautiful! I definitely see a difference in the more expensive glitters. While I’m thankful for the 1.99 price it seems like I’m putting so much on because there isn’t much glitter in the cheaper ones. You probably already know this but Zoya is giving two free polishes until the 9th. You just have to pay for shipping. I ordered mine and can’t wait to get them!

    I’m all about the Party of Five Glitters! I just found it two weeks ago & have used it on both of my manis’ for the holidays. I love it. The DL polish is so pretty, but for the price, I prefer the Wet N Wild, since it gives the very same look!
    {if you want some gold added in a mani with the Party of Five, add a coat of the big flake gold sephora glitter!}

    I have the party of five glitters and I love it! Layered over the pink, it reminds me of a birthday cake- so fun!

    Interesting comparison! The wet n wild one is nice but you’re definitely lucky you have the Deborah Lippmann ones. I love all three! The pink is so cute, reminds me of a cupcake.

    I love this analysis. I’m all about drugstore nail polish and have wondered how Deborah Lippmann compared. Amazing how similar it looks to the wet & wild glitter. With an extra coat or two of the wet & wild, I bet they would look nearly identical. Love the glitter on top of the black base! Thanks for sharing this comparison…looks like I’ll stick to my drugstore polish for now.

    Either on is such a fun polish! Amazing how similar they are with such a drastic price difference. I don’t mind spending money, but when they’re so similar I’ll always pick the lower price!
