i’m wearing: h&m gingham shirt, free people skinny jeans, steve madden linderr boots, michael kors grayson satchel & watch, spike the punch bracelet, various bracelets and my dove cremation necklace.

my roots are SOOOOO bad. when my hair gets this grown out, the blonde is brassy and my roots are a nice mousy grey color. and by nice i mean a gawd awful grey color. eek! tomorrow i am attending the CAbi spring 2012 fashion show and i am SO excited…but it seems like my hair is always a hot mess when i have an event to attend! oh, and i still have no idea what i am going to wear!

p.s. as you guys know, my grandmother passed away recently and i was asked to give her eulogy. as stressful as it was, it was such an honor and a gift to be able to share my favorite memories of her. the dove necklace in this post is a cremation necklace that now carries some of my grandmother’s ashes in it. a few of my friends had never heard of such a thing so i thought i would let you guys know they are available. probably not for everyone, but it brings me comfort knowing that she is always with me.

What a wonderful idea with the dove necklace.

I know how you feel about the roots, but honestly it doesn’t look bad at all. I have the same hair color and I am ALWAYS looking at my roots, so I think we think it’s worse than it really is. You look super cute!

Story about cremation necklaces… My dad passed away right after I turned 17 he died at the LA airport of a heart attack on our way back from a family vacation in Cabo on our way back to Idaho, there are legal things about what you have to do with a body, autopsy ect so my dad had to stay in LA. My uncle who lived near LA had to be the one to pick up his remains from the crematory. The night before the funeral he met my mom, brother and I in our hotel room and handed us the urn and handed us each a necklace, mine a cross, my mom a heart and my brother a teardrop, my uncle was so upset all he could do was cry and give us the necklaces and said something to the extent of “I got you these to remind you of him and that he is always with you.” I of course had never heard of these types of necklaces and though my uncle just got us a necklace to have in memory… it wasn’t for over a week later when my mom was talking about hers that I knew!!! I was a little shocked by it, upset that I didn’t know and I was ok about it but it suddenly made more sense. I liked the idea of it at the time, but could understand why some people would be a little put off by it. I don’t wear it anymore but like having it, and knowing I have a lil bit of him (even sounds creepy but you know what I mean) My mom was wearing hers 7 months later and was watching the 4th of July parade in our town and the heart fell off and the ashes fell on the sidewalk! She of course cried a lil, got down and patted the ground, said a prayer, and said “Tom always like downtown Sherman by the lake, so it is a happy place for him to be.”
