“Jumping on the fad bandwagon. The wild popularity of the Missoni Target line got me thinking about fads, trends, and our desire to be part of the ‘in’ crowd. This weeks questions are based on that”.  ~Katy, Modlychic

here are my answers to this weeks FBFF questions:

1. do you ever see a fad hit the stores and immediately dislike it? has that fad ever began to grow on you? yes…totally. i have thought something looks ridiculous and then the next month i either have whatever it was or want it.

2. has the popularity of a certain piece of clothing or line ever convinced you to try on something (or purchase something) you dislike? if i don’t like a line, i don’t buy it. period. for example…i did not care for the calypso st barth target collection so i did not buy anything but i woke up in the middle of the night to get my hands on the target go collection and the missoni for target collection.

3. have you ever changed your mind about a trend after seeing it around for a while? yes…all the time. sometimes i like things more after seeing it around for a while and sometimes i get REALLY tired of the same old thing.

4. do you feel a certain pressure to have specific items in your closet because ‘everyone’ else does? i absolutely am more aware of the trends and since i started this blog, i have shopped more than i ever have in my life. although now i shop mostly budget friendly stores like h&m and forever21. that way, when i buy trendy stuff, i don’t feel guilty because i know i didn’t break the bank to buy it. i used to max out credit cards buying things i could not afford. those days are long gone. =)

5. be honest, what do you think of the missoni line? did you grab any items? is it worth the ebay prices? i am a fan of the missoni line. i don’t usually love sweater material on me because they aren’t as forgiving on the figure but the skirt (seen above) i bought is actually quite flattering on. i am a big fan of chevron/zigzag print so i also got a scarf.  i did start thinking i needed more because of all of the craziness/hoopla on the web about the missoni collection but i am happy with what i got. and i think the ebay prices are RIDICULOUS.

as always, be sure to stop by modlychic to see how everyone else answered!

I completely agree with you that blogging has made me even more aware of trends and although I’ve always shopped a lot I definitely feel the urge to have ‘whats hot right now’ right now! I have to say, I like my closet the most now though because really analyzing what I where for outfit of the day photos has made keep only the things I really love and look good in.

You are so stunning! I totally agree with you – some trends grow on me after a while and other things I grow tired of really quickly. Hope you have a great weekend 🙂 xoxo

i personally really like the missoni x target line and many of the target collabs in general. the quality isn’t on par with the original lines but at a fraction of the price i don’t expect it to be. i really appreciate your honest answers to the questions. i think we all struggle a bit with budgeting and keeping up with the trends, esp. when we’re presenting our style online for the whole world to see and judge.

You know, I wasn’t crazy about Missoni for Target, mostly because of the insanity that surrounded the collection. But that skirt you have on makes me wish I’d made more of an effort to check it out.

Totally think the hype makes people go much madder than they probably would if it weren’t for all of that!

That skirt looks great 🙂 Definitely better to get one or two pieces you’ll wear and love than a load that will sit unworn in your wardrobe.

Blogging has definitely opened my eyes to new trends and ways to wear them.
