this week for FBFF we are doing an up close and personal look at a favorite clothing item and linking up over at ashley getting dressed. instead of just photographing it as part of an OOTD post, show us the little details, the things you can’t see from a far-away shot. ~katy rose, modlychic

my husband bought me this jacket when i moved to nyc in 2005. we were just friends at the time but he knew i didn’t own a real jacket and i thought this is what a nyc winter coat looked like. um, i was wrong. i might have worn this three times while living in nyc. my next coat was a wool trench coat and then a northface down jacket. sometimes i miss getting all bundled up and walking into a coffee shop and taking off all of my layers to watch the snow from inside. i lived in chelsea and my bedroom window overlooked 8th avenue. i could seriously just lay there and people watch for hours. but i digress. i love this jacket more every year and it is just a classic piece that never goes out of style. the detailing is my favorite part…especially on the back. i can promise you that you will see me in this on the blog this winter. it is definitely a california winter coat! =)

Haha – that is so true! When we moved to New York, I quickly learned that you have to change your fashion sense in the winter…it’s all about staying warm and layering (and a down coat is a MUST). So not ready for all the snow! 🙁

I love the feminine silhouette mixed with the edgier details.

What a gorgeous coat. Yes, perhaps not quite right for NYC but for California I can imagine it would be 🙂

I love that coat! The details at the waist and on the back are very nice. It looks like something that would be super easy to wear.

Aww, what a cute story behind the coat. I’d love to live in NYC sometime, but the winters would be brutal for a Florida girl!

That jacket it beautiful! I’m currently on the search for a perfect leather jacket. I’m glad you’ll be getting more use out of it this winter, it’s too nice to languish in a closet!

I loveeeeee this jacket. I have been crushing a similar one allll Winter here, but with it being up over the $200 mark I kept putting off buying it & now we’re starting to head back in to warmer weather! It would have been so amazing growing up with snow though – I am 23 and still never seen snow or been in it. maybe next year when I head to NY with my bf 🙂
Looking forward to seeing you IN this jacket during Winter posts 🙂
