this is a picture of me in cabo from 2006. i think i’ve been to cabo at least five times now.

this weeks FBFF topic is all about summer vacations. let’s talk about what you’re packing!!!

1. when it comes to packing for vacation what’s your mantra? i ALWAYS over pack. and then i ALWAYS end up buying more wherever we go so i can’t fit it all in my bags! luckily, my husband always under packs so i end up shoving stuff in his bag!

2. what are your must packs? for summer vacations…flip flops and sunblock! i can’t tell you how many times i’ve gone on vacation and ended up buying ANOTHER tube of sunblock. drives me bonkers buying stuff i already have.

3. what are you happy to leave behind? cooking! i love being on vacation so we can eat out and not have to clean up the mess!!! and i LOVE LOVE LOVE room service too.

4. any packing secrets that help you get everything into one suitcase? i pack like a pro going there but coming home, i dread packing and cram it all in however i can. my husband folds his clothes all crazy so there aren’t any creases (he does this at home too). i fold my tees right down the middle and sport my creases with pride.

5. beach reading… what are you taking with you to read in the sand? i never read anymore. isn’t that sad? the last thing i read was “eat, pray, love” right before i had my son. it was SO good, i couldn’t put it down. and i used to read ALL THE TIME on the subway when i lived in NYC. now, i barely have time to read magazines. most of my time is spent online. and my laptop ALWAYS goes with me on vacation (but not to the beach…sand would ruin it silly). this year we won’t be taking any vacations longer than two days because we can’t stand to be without our son but he is still on too much of a schedule to take him anywhere and really relax. grandma helps us out for our weekend getaways which are usually to palm springs. i have been begging my husband to take me to catalina for EVER now. HINT HINT HINT!!! lets go already!!!

don’t forget to stop by modlychic to read all FBFF answers!

Girl, I’m an over-packer too!! And then doesn’t it seem like whether you buy more or not, you can never seem to fit everything on the way home?? I always have that problem!! Haha!

What a sweet grandma to watch your son so you and husband can take some getaways!! I bet she loves it!!

Oh, I can totally relate to your answer #4 – I do exactly the same thing! And flipflops and sunblock are a couple of my must packs as well. Have a great Friday!

Yes, resorts charges crazy amount of money for a little bottle of sunscreen, I’ve paid 30$ on my last trip to Cuba. I’m leaving tomorrow with 3 bottles !!! And I also agree that husband suitcase is the best save ever !

My boyfriend travels all over the world for his job and uses an carryon-size even if he’s going to be gone for several weeks. I love watching him pack because it’s like watching someone work a puzzle. He rolls everything, and leaves his dress shirts inside their dryclean bags, zips them into their garment bag, then puts that on the very top of his packed clothes. The only thing he ever has problem with is finding room for his running shoes, but he still always manages.

Me? I totally overpack too. I don’t know what I want to wear until I wake up! lol
