i am going to participate in toms one day without shoes which is an event to raise awareness of the impact a pair of shoes can have on a child’s life by taking off our own. one of my best friends got me a pair of toms shoes two years ago (seen above) for my birthday. i had never heard of them so when she told me the story behind them, i was even more touched by the thoughtful gift. if you haven’t heard of toms shoes, for each pair that you purchase, another pair is sent to a child in need. they are SO comfy and they have even come out with wedges! please check them out and see what one for one is all about.

p.s. i took these pics yesterday so i could have this post ready for the day of the event. i will be wearing my toms shoes to lunch (for safety issues) but will be spending the rest of the day without shoes!

Yes this event is such a great way to raise awareness! I participated last year at college and even just walking around for a couple hours on campus without shoes was painful and sad and it really got me thinking about those who do it EVERY DAY and not just to make a statement. TOMS is a great organization and I am hoping to get a pair of the wedges this spring. Congrats on participating.

What a wonderful cause and great post! I love your Toms- SO natural and outdoorsy looking.

I wish I had a profession where I wouldn’t be sent home if I didn’t wear shoes for a day.
    Hmm…. maybe I shouldn’t wear shoes tomorrow.

I participated too! I just received my first pair of TOMS this week for my birthday from my husband. It’s become a widespread tradition around our church communiy to take part in One Day Without Shoes, and I was so happy to do it his year!
