a couple of weekends ago we went estate sale-ing and i came across this little gold clutch at the last minute. i’m pretty sure it was just one of those free gifts with makeup purchases but i thought it would be fun to have anyway! and for a couple of bucks…what the heck! this weekend i pretty much spent my whole saturday with at&t at our house. for the last week and a half we have had basically no cell coverage and HORRIBLE internet access. so far my internet has only gone down twice (yeah, that’s a good day). sunday my mom and i spent the day grocery shopping and making meals to put in the freezer. it is so nice to just be able to pull dinner out of the freezer instead of having to prepare meals every night. wow, i hope i didn’t just put you to sleep with my boring weekend! ohhh…i have another question for you moms out there!!! my son will be six months old tomorrow and i have been trying to give him rice cereal and oatmeal for the last few weeks and he hates it. i asked the pediatrician and he said to just keep trying and NOT to add veggies or fruit to it yet. any tips for me? tomorrow is also his six month wellness check-up which means shots. lots and lots of shots…which means he will probably have a fever again. i wish he was big enough to bribe so i could reward him after! poor little guy. my heart hurts already.ugh.

That’s a lovely little clutch! I have always wanted to go to an estate sale but I just can never get up the motivation to GO. Oh well…one day!

Are you mixing your cereal with breastmilk or formula? My baby only ate her cereal with water in the beginning. After a month or so, I switched to mixing it with breastmilk and she loves it. You can also try a different brand of cereal. I’ve heard that some babies actually have a preference!! I’m currently using Happy Bellies and my baby loves it! Good luck!!

getting up that early is definitely a task…but you can find some fun stuff =)

i am mixing his cereal with formula. i even tried mixing w/ prune juice (which he has every other day since he is on soy formula that causes him constipation…sorry tmi for non-moms)! i have only used gerber which is all my grocery store and babies r us carried. any ideas who carries other brands? we are gonna ask the pedi tomorrow too! thank you!!!

I used to feed my nephew Earth’s Best which is organic whole grain cereal. He loved it. My sister used to feed him the Gerber as well, and he didn’t take to it as well as the Earth’s Best. You can find it at Whole Foods or maybe Trader Joe’s. Hope that helps 🙂

Just started reading your blog and I love it! When I started my daughter on solids I tried cereal and she HATED it. I tried it with breast milk and water, I tried every brand of cereal on the market with no luck. Finally I just said to hell with it and gave her avocados and she loved it. Then I tried applesauce then sweet potatoes, beans and carrots (pureed and all within three days of each other) and she inhaled everything within seconds. She is now 2.5 and still won’t any kind of oatmeal, cereal, or grits.

    Good Luck!
