i thought i would try curling my hair today with my new fantastic no clamp as seen on tv curling iron. um, i couldn’t figure out how to use it so i went back to my old ten year old curling iron =( the new fancy pants one is tapered so my hair just kept bunching up and slipping off. apparently i must have done it wrong?!?! it has thirty five 5 star reviews listed on amazon so i guess i need to read up on no clamp curling iron techniques. my hair stylist actually curls my hair with a straightener (seen here) and i love the way it looks but i can’t duplicate it either! oh well, thank goodness for my old school clamping curling iron.

p.s. if you look real close in the last pic, you can see that i still have my featherlocks in =)

p.s.s note to self: clean mirrors before taking pics in them. and yes, this psycho even touched up her dark circles in her reflection. i am obsessed =)

have you tried a clampless curling iron? did you like it? please tell me it took you a few tries to figure it out…

I don’t get how the tapered ones work either. I have yet to try one, but it looks tricky. I finally figured out how to curl my hair with my flat iron. Now that I wear my hair curly everyday, I’ve got it down. Do you flat iron your hair before you curl? I find the curl holds a lot better when I just blow dry then curl. I little trick from the frizzy-haired girl. 😉

Hi! I absolutely can relate. I tried this how to: http://cupcakesandcashmere.com/how-to-beachy-waves/

My hair looks a LOT like yours, just add bangs, and I’ve been using the old school curling iron forever. But, just like in this how-to, I turned the iron up, so that the barrel is facing down. It makes a HUGE difference…I’m not sure how, but it does. Only problem, I kept burning my fingers. So, I went shopping for the no-clamp iron, and thank goodness, I was with a hairdresser friend. She told me that I didn’t need to buy one, I could just remove the clamp from another iron. So, I did, (I have several for some reason), and it works just as well! I’ll try to do a post on this at some point, but take a look at the how-to in the link. Good luck!

lol …you have to hold your hair and hand-twist it around it, then hold the ends without touching the iron and burning yourself. You can do it with your clamp one as well …it’s how I do it most of the time …you can check it in my perfect wave hair video

HOWEVER, your hair looks gorgeous in that last shot so you may as well just stick with what works 🙂
